The continuing shift of media use towards a variety of on-demand formats, used on a variety of channels, both mobile and hybrid, is forcing media companies to actively shape technical disruption – using AI, AR/VR, text-to-speech and 5G.
“Content is King” has been the message for many years, since telecommunications companies began “piping” media contents into households. This is still happening without any limits today. However, these “pipes” have become more versatile, creating worldwide infrastructure platforms through which contents can be played.
Media companies will only be able to win the war for attention and reach if they put users at the center of all their business activities. New technologies are opening up opportunities for new business models, such as real-time optimization, live streaming or self-publishing.
